FAQs

Common questions

What is an EICR?

An Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) records the condition of an existing electrical installation after inspection and testing against BS 7671. It lists any defects found, gives each one a classification code and states whether the installation is satisfactory or unsatisfactory for continued use.

What do the codes C1, C2, C3 and FI mean?

C1 means danger is present and immediate remedial action is required. C2 means the issue is potentially dangerous and urgent remedial action is required. C3 means an improvement is recommended. FI means further investigation is advised.

Under the current edition of BS 7671 (2018+A4:2026), a C1 or C2 makes the report unsatisfactory. C3 and FI observations do not, on their own, change the overall outcome.

How often should a commercial site have an EICR?

IET guidance recommends a maximum of five years between inspections for most commercial premises. The inspector may recommend a shorter interval depending on the condition, use and environment of the installation, and your insurer or landlord may set their own requirement.

Can you fix the issues found in an EICR?

Yes. Remedial works following inspection are part of our upgrade service, and we certify the work when it is complete.

Do you work on live telecoms sites?

Yes. Our work is planned around live services, access windows and the site's change-control process, so the network stays up while we work.

What does client-side management involve?

We act for you rather than the installer. That can cover the brief and site surveys, a technical review of M&E designs and tender documents, managing and supervising contractors, and witnessing tests and checking certificates and O&M documents at handover.

What accreditations do you hold?

JTA Services Ltd is an NICEIC Approved Contractor, SafeContractor accredited and registered with Achilles. Our engineers are trained and qualified for electrical installation, inspection and testing.

Do you install earthing and lightning protection on masts and towers?

Yes. We install earthing, bonding and lightning protection on telecoms masts and towers, alongside supplies and distribution to the site equipment.

Which areas do you cover?

We work on telecoms sites across the UK.
